Cooperative Research Partners Initiative

In FY 1999, the Northeast Regional Office of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) developed the Cooperative Research Partners Initiative (CRPI) to formalize and expand collaborative research among New England's commercial fishing industry, marine science and fishery management communities. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the data upon which fishery management decisions are made as well as to facilitate communication and collaboration among New England commercial fishermen, scientists, and fishery managers. Through this initiative, CRPI partners are collaborating with the New England Fishery Management Council in setting research priorities to meet management and fishing industry needs.
